LaNard was opened 16 years ago, a play on the name of owner Fred Lanrard. In Fred’s experience, that first “r” made his moniker something of a tongue twister–so when he opened his shop, he split the difference, dropped the “r”, and called it “LaNard”.
When Fred struck out on his own to open LaNard on Drinker Street, he and his wife Cathy had the customer’s experience in mind. Buying the right jewelry for the right recipient means more than the quick, impersonal transactions we’ve become accustomed to. Seeing quality product firsthand and speaking with a qualified expert should never be a luxury.
In opening their own shop, Fred and Cathy aren’t just here to sell jewelry; they’re here to be a community jeweler that you and your family can count on again and again for friendly service and exceptional expertise.
Fred has been in the jewelry business for 36 years. Prior to opening LaNard, Fred built his experience dealing with precious gems, metals, and the exceptional customer service you can expect from a local family-owned business. Finding his calling in jewelry, Fred determined that it was time to take his expertise to the next level. After twenty years of working in the industry, he made the decision to open his own shop.
LaNard is happy to serve Dunmore and the Greater Scranton Area with the honesty, reliability and attention to detail that comes with doing business with a local, family-run shop.
